How it Works

The You at Your Best assessment is a quick, straightforward tool designed to help individuals identify and hone their strengths.

The Questionnaire:

Part 1: Uses a quantitative approach, measuring strengths in the areas of communication, creativity and openness, learning environment, and implementation on a scale from 1 to 10. This provides clear, numerical insights into areas essential for effective learning.

Part 2: Uses a qualitative approach with open-ended questions to gather detailed feedback from individuals about their perceptions of the person's strengths and 'best sides.' This qualitative data offers valuable perspectives on what others can learn from the person and how their strengths impact those around them.

Here’s how it works:

1. Sign-Up: The process begins with the initiator registering by providing their first name, last name, and email address. They also set a submission deadline by which all feedback should be completed.

2. Self-Assessment: The initiator completes their own assessment, which takes about 5-10 minutes. The user-friendly system guides them through each step. Once the self-assessment is finished, a custom link is generated for gathering feedback from others.

3. Feedback Collection: The initiator shares this custom link with 10-15 people from their personal and professional circles. It is recommended to include a representative mix of individuals to ensure diverse feedback.

4. Report Generation: After the deadline, the system compiles all responses and generates a detailed report. This report highlights key differences between the self-assessment and feedback from others, and includes responses to open-ended questions.

5. Report Delivery: The generated report is sent directly to the initiator. They can use the insights to identify key strengths and weaknesses, create a personal development plan, and understand how to leverage their strengths to support others and enhance teamwork.

The Theoretical Foundations
of the You at Your Best Assessment

The You at Your Best Assessment is grounded in several key theoretical frameworks such as:

1. Positive Psychology: Based on e.g. Martin Seligman's work, Positive Psychology emphasizes identifying and nurturing individual strengths to enhance well-being and success. This approach focuses on maximizing positive experiences and outcomes through strength-based development.

2. Broaden & Build Theory: Barbara Fredrickson's theory suggests that positive emotions broaden cognitive processes and build personal resources. By focusing on strengths, individuals can foster resilience and personal growth, supporting the assessment’s emphasis on strength-based learning.

3. Growth Mindset: Carol Dweck’s concept of the Growth Mindset suggests that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort and persistence. This perspective encourages ongoing learning and adaptation, aligning with the assessment’s goal of continuous personal and professional development.

4. Strength-Based Learning is an approach that centers on identifying and leveraging an individual’s existing strengths rather than focusing solely on weaknesses. By recognizing and applying these natural talents, individuals can enhance their engagement, motivation, and overall performance. This method fosters personal growth and effectiveness by building upon what people naturally excel at.

Together, these theories provide a robust foundation for the You at Your Best Assessment, guiding individuals in leveraging their strengths for personal and team development.
